In alchemy, substances are transformed in the crucible. Its the same with humans sometimes.
cru·ci·ble
/ˈkro͞osəb(ə)l/nouna ceramic or metal container in which metals or other substances may be melted or subjected to very high temperatures."the crucible tipped and the mold filled with liquid metal"
a situation of severe trial, or in which different elements interact, leading to the creation of something new."their relationship was forged in the crucible of war"
True transformation is an amazing process. It can happen in what appears as a spontaneous moment...with a discernible shift in consciousness. Or it can appear gradual...as a stepping-stone process that progresses in distinct stages.
When your clients are going through transformation, they are in the crucible. And a lot of the time, your're in there with them. You've got to know what you're doing. And you've got to be present, fierce, and powerful enough to hold the space for them.
You've got to walk beside them and witness their process. You've got to know where the road is leading. You've got to wrap your energy around your client with fierce protectiveness but also with a zen-like emptiness that allows the client to unfold into transform without putting anything of yourself, your wishes, your ideas, your good intentions into the space.
The art of holding space for clients is about witnessing, allowing, watching but its also about receiving the client and his or her energy without judgement and uncritically. In order to do this, you need a lot of faith in yourself and your own personal development and a deep trust for the deep work your clients are doing. It can get pretty hot in the crucible of transformation.
